Performance Company

Curious Motion’s new inclusive dance performance company launched in July 2024.  Aimed at encouraging self-expression, connection, and creativity, the company brings together adults of all backgrounds to share their stories.

PERFORMANCE PROJECT

About the company

The company supports adults of all backgrounds and experience levels to express themselves, learn new skills, and connect more deeply with themselves, others, and the world around them.

Company members work together to create new dance performance work and have the opportunity to explore other elements of performance, including music, costume, and set design. Members work alongside our professional dancers as performers and co-choreographers.

The company first began dancing together at the beginning of July 2024 to create This Here Land… – a dance piece about togetherness, community, and celebration that had it’s debut performance at Welland Festival in October 2024.

We welcome members who are keen to perform alongside those who would prefer to contribute to the creative process only. No dance experience is needed and we work in an accessible and inclusive way, ensuring everyone can participate in the way that works for them.

We are currently fundraising to continue the company’s work from January 2025. If you would like to support us to do this you can make a donation here or drop us an email on hello@curiousmotion.org.uk.

If you are interested in joining the company please email us on hello@curiousmotion.org.uk – we would love to hear from you!

PERFORMANCE PROJECT

This Here Land...

This Here Land was first created in 2023 with a small group of our regular participants and our professional dancers. Since then, it’s been reimagined into a full company work!

This Here Land… celebrates togetherness, community, and draws inspiration from the rich local area and identity of Elland. The dancers take the audience on a compelling exploration of local landmarks, memories, and defining moments from their lives, inviting them to connect with the essence of this land; it’s past, present, and future, and how we might build community together.

In October 2024 the company made their debut performance with This Here Land… at Welland Festival.
