Classes & Workshops Volunteers

Volunteering with Curious Motion is a rewarding and uplifting experience where you can nourish your own wellbeing and play a part in supporting others to live healthy and happy lives.

Overview

We are looking for volunteers to support us with the general running and setup/ close of our regular classes and workshops sessions. There is the option to enjoy a free class as part of your volunteering role too if you would like to!

Curious Motion has a fast-growing programme of dance, movement, and creative classes and workshops taking place regularly in Elland in various community venues. We are currently embarking on a three-year project focused on embedding our activities in the area to tackle chronic loneliness and make excellent arts and health activity accessible to more people in the lower valley, and our regular programme is a key part of this.

Key Information

We are currently looking for volunteers to support our work with children and young people at the following sessions:

Stories in Motion – our children’s movement and storytelling sessions: Thursdays, volunteers needed from 3.30pm until 5.15pm at Elland Library (sessions run in blocks of 5 weeks).

Curious Youth – a new creative programme for teenagers. Mondays, volunteers needed from 4.15pm until 5.45pm in Elland.

Key tasks include:

  • Helping set up the room/ space. This might include moving tables and/ or chairs in some venues.
  • Welcoming participants and helping create a friendly, welcoming, and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Preparing, serving, and tidying up tea, coffee, and refreshments.
  • Helping the session artist – for example, handing out sensory props or equipment.
  • Helping to ensure the safety of everyone involved – cleaning up spillages, generally keeping an eye out for any potential hazards, ensuring children are accompanied by their parents/ carers, etc.

Full training and support will be provided.
